Welcome to our new blog, Casey on Deck! We decided to create this blog to keep all of
you, our closest family and friends, updated on our journey towards
parenthood.
We found out we were expecting baby Casey on February 28th. I had taken two tests the day before and
noticed two extremely faint lines. We’re
talking magnifying glass, if you look at it in just the right light, kind of
faint lines. So I kept my secret to
myself and decided I would test again the next day. The next day resulted in a fairly faint line
as well so I decided I needed to go all out. I needed the digital. The digital produced the answer I had been
hoping for with one clear word, PREGNANT!
At this point Travis was in the loop and also knew of all my testing shenanigans.
I continued to take tests for the next few days, bringing my grand total to
somewhere around seven I believe. Our initial reaction was one of shock but
excitement too of course. At 7 weeks we
were able to see our baby for the first time on an ultrasound. After that there was no question, we were
going to be parents!
In the following weeks we were able to see our baby twice
more on ultrasound. Each time he or she
has been measuring perfectly and has had a strong heartbeat. He or she is due
somewhere around November 11th.
I’ve been doing well also. The
first trimester came with its share of yuckiness- nausea, indigestion,
aversions to smells, and going to be bed at 7:30 on a pretty consistent basis.
Now, in the second trimester, a lot of those things have gone and I’m feeling
good! The Dr. said I should start
feeling the baby move soon which I look forward to every day. Travis stares at my little (I’m using that
term while I still can) baby bump every morning and just smiles.
What some of you may or may not know is that the journey
towards having our first baby has not been an easy one for Travis and me. In January and September of last year we lost
our first two babies too soon. There
have been a lot of tears and times where we thought we would never be in this
place but here we are. We’ve made it
this far already and we hope and pray that this is lucky number three. We know for certain that there are two little
angels watching over us from heaven every day.
Another big event in our lives is that of course we
moved! Travis and I are now official Washingtonians!
Travis continues to work for AT&T and I started working at an ophthalmologist’s
office a few weeks after moving here. We
are both happy in our new positions and making new friends and connections in
the Tri-Cities. We are LOVING the weather here and are starting the process of
looking for our first house to buy. Things are most certainly looking up!
Wow! So much to talk about in such a short amount of time. We can’t wait to share with all of all the new and exciting changes taking place in our lives. Watch out world, there’s a Casey on Deck!
